Our Church History

2002 - 2003

The Preliminary Stage

City Harvest Church Kuching was birthed through the prayers of a small group of people who had a deep desire to disciple believers effectively in the ways of God.  With that desire, this prayer group of four grew into a church and held their first service in December 2001.  Among them was Pastor George Tiong Ming Hing, who is currently the Senior Pastor of Kuching City Harvest Church.
At about the same period, Pastor George’s life took a dramatic turn after he heard a timely message that Rev. Kong Hee preached during a session at the School of Ministries (SOM) in Malaysia.  The message on building up a strong local church burned within his heart and soon after, the church started to grow steadily to 80 people in 2002 and then to about 140 members in 2003.

2004 - 2008

The Growing Stage

The following year, Pastor George answered the call of God and entered full-time ministry, giving up his secular business career.  He enrolled into the newly established Pastor’s Course at City Harvest Church in February 2004 to equip himself and devote a year of his life to get deeper into the Word of God.  Holding onto the same spirit of faith as City Harvest Church and Pastor Kong, it opened a way for Pastor George’s church to become part of the City Harvest Church family.  Kuching City Harvest was thus born. To date, there are more than 600 members who worship in the church’s weekly youth service on Saturday and adult service on Sunday.
